Mr. Harrison D Van Dyke's Obituary
Harrison D Van Dyke, 87, went to be with the Lord, Saturday, December 14, 2019. Born in Muskegon, Michigan to Derk and Flossie May (Giddis) Van Dyke on January 25, 1932. He graduated from Muskegon High School in 1950. Harrison then graduated from Michigan State University with a degree in Music Education. While attending Michigan State University, he started the (Kick Step Program), that was created in 1952 in which the MSU marching Band continues top use to this day as a march from the tunnel to the football field. He loved music and was an accomplished trumpet player. He then went into business with Marshall Music Company in Lansing, Michigan where he started the School Service Department. Harrison taught band in several schools in Michigan and also served as the Director of the VFW Post #701 of Lansing, Michigan for several years
He is preceded in death by his first wife Carol Van Dyke and daughter Julie Van Dyke. Harrison is survived by his beloved Wife of 48 years, Patricia, three Sons: Steve, Brad and Eric, Daughter, Sherri, ten Grandchildren; Rico, Steve, Arminda, Angelina, Jeremy, Leah, Matthew, Sam, Mason, Nathon and several Great Grandchildren.
