Harold Fay Miller's Obituary
Harold Fay Miller, 81, a resident of Tavares, Florida passed away on Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at Florida Hospital Waterman of lung cancer.
Born July 11, 1933 in Pittwood, Illinois, his parents were Maude Marie Mayes and Ellsworth Colfax Miller. Harold and his wife, Sue, were married in Hoopeston, Illinois in 1979.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers and 2 sisters: Roy and Bluford; Marylen Williamson and Colleen Jensen.
Harold is survived by his wife, five sons and one daughter and one brother: Harold Miller, Jr., Charlie Knight, D. Lynn Knight, Mark Knight, John Knight and Liz Colston; and youngest brother, Douglas Miller. In addition, he has eleven grandchildren.
Harold and Sue relocated to Tavares, Florida in 1996 to work full time jobs until 2001. They gained many new friends in the community and in business.
Harold worked as a Maintenance Mechanic of large equipment in the food industry. He was a life time member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign War and National Rifle Association. He enlisted in the U.S. Army at age 19, serving as a Demolition Specialist in Korea, re-enlisting to complete 8 years total. While serving in the Army, Harold was a member of a rifle sharp shooting team who traveled around the United States to demonstrate their expertise in marksmanship. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling, and in his younger days, rodeo horse barrel racing.
Harold was a dependable, hard working, optimist, with a great sense of humor, and a fantastic cook.
A Memorial Service will be held at the First United Methodist Church of Tavares, Florida on June 20, 2015 at 2:00 PM. No flowers.
