Girija Sreenivasalu Padmanabh's Obituary
Girija Sreenivasalu Padmanabh MD, MPH, born on February 17, 1952 in Chitoor ; daughter of Manjam Sreenivasalu (Father) and Saladagu Chellamma(Mother). She completed her studies at Ethiraj College in Chennai, before enrolling in S.V. University and completing her medical degree in Tirupati, India. She got married to Munivenkatappa Padmanabh on June 9 1976 and immigrated to the United States shortly afterwards. She completed her residency at Pontiac General Hospital in Michigan. After completing residency she moved with her husband to suburban Orlando and would proudly call Central Florida home. In 1990 she completed her Masters in Public Health from the University of South Florida. In 1994 she became the Director for the Sumter County Health Department, a position she proudly held until her retirement in 2010. She had a passion for public health and unwavering dedication to her patients. She was a nurturing mother, loving wife and a loyal friend to all who knew her. She enjoyed traveling, golf and was a skilled classical Indian dancer ( Bharatanatyam). Dr. Girija S Padmanabh will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege to know her. She is survived by her son Dr. Sumanth Padmanabh and her husband Dr. Munivenkatappa Padmanabh.
