Gary Walter DeRoo's Obituary
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Gary W. DeRoo, a cherished uncle, husband, brother and friend. Gary departed from this life peacefully on June 12, 2026, at Cornerstone Hospice in Tavares, Florida. He was 86 years old. Gary was born on July 11, 1939, in Rochester, New York, to the late Norman L. DeRoo and Pearl V. DeRoo (Robinson). In 1957 Gary answered the call to serve his country and joined the U.S. Army. He served on active duty until 1960 and continued his commitment in the United States Army Reserves until 1963. Gary was predeceased by his wife Norene DeRoo whom he lovingly referred to as “ My Girl” , parents, Norman and Pearl DeRoo, and his brother, Norman DeRoo. Gary is survived by his nieces & nephew ; Dawn Carey (DeRoo), Kristen DeRoo, Dan DeRoo , Kathy Schwartz, and Deborah Gladue. As well as extended family, cousins and close friends who will forever remember Gary for his generosity and the warmth of his spirit. A private memorial service will be held to honor Garys life at a later date. . In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Garys name to Cornerstone Hospice, whose compassionate care provided comfort in his final day. Gary W. DeRoo will forever be remembered as a devoted husband, a much loved brother, loving uncle, a faithful friend, and a proud patriot. May he rest in eternal peace, knowing he was deeply loved and will be dearly missed.
