Freida Alberta Kleiser's Obituary
Freida Alberta Smith-Kleiser ascended to heaven on May 16, 2016 at her home on Lane Park Road surrounded by her family. She was 87 years old. Freida was born December 1, 1928 in Deer Lodge, Tennessee to the late Elbert and Gertrude Smith. In 1943 her family moved to Mt. Dora by train. Freida married George Kleiser Sr. of Tavares in 1948 and they have resided on Lane Park Road ever since. Freida ran the family businesses consisting of their citrus groves and Kleiser’s Fish Camp on Lake Harris for over 30 years while George worked for the Tavares Post Office. Together they raised 5 children, Opal Handley, George Jr., Forest, Wilma Jane (Brad) Whaley all of Tavares and Jason (Sheila) who resides in Williamsburg, Kentucky.
Freida’s greatest enjoyment in life was her family that she loved dearly. Besides her 5 children, she took great pride in her 5 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren. Coming from a large family with 6 boys and 6 girls she took great joy in being the oldest and in control of the 12 siblings; Ozell, Nora Juanita (Bonnie), Wilma Rose (Boe), Mayzell, Mary Helen, Teddy, David, Billy, Jimmy, Paul, and Becky. She was preceded in death by her husband George Sr., son Forest Lee, sister Mazell, and brothers Ozell and Teddy.
Visitation will be Wednesday May 18, 2016 from 5-7pm at Steverson, Hamlin, and Hilbish in Tavares. A celebration of Freida’s life will be held Thursday May 19h at 1100 AM at First Baptist Church of Tavares. Internment services will be graveside at Tavares Cemetery.
