Frank Wayne Monaghan's Obituary
Frank Wayne Monaghan passed away peacefully on Saturday February 25, 2022 and was rejoined with the love of his life Dorothy Monaghan.
Born to (Tom) Frank William Monaghan and Helen Monaghan on March 14, 1945 , F. Wayne or Butch, was one of four children, Ellen, Carol, Tommy and Frank born in Newfields NH. He attended the one room school house next to the family home and volunteered with his father on the Newfields Fire Department. He later joined the US Navy, and was a veteran of the Viet Nam conflict. Butch has six living children Shawn Monaghan, Joanne Barnes, Daniel McLeod, Cynthia Monroe, Kevin Monaghan and Chris Monaghan, who with their partners went on to share decades of memories with him and gave him a gaggle of adoring grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Butch Proudly served in the US Army Reserves, and loved being a drill sergeant. Frank worked in the construction industry for over 35 as a Steamfitter & Plumber. Butch enjoyed playing horseshoes, drinking Busch beer, famously enjoyed hotdogs with peanut butter, fishing, hunting, riding a motorcycle, boating, and was known to always putter in his workshop. A man of many talents, he sketched, listened to music, danced and was a jack of all trades who fixed most things. He built a cannon that shot golf balls, snowmobiled, and skied. He was proud of his Irish American heritage, played the banjo and participated in Revolutionary war reenactments in his earlier years. He and his wife Dorothy lived in Effingham NH for a number of years in the home he built, and headed up the Lost Valley housing association while there. Their dining room table was commonly where the family would gather for meals and to enjoy one another’s company, whether it be over coffee or a home made dinner where music or a CB radio could be heard in the background. They later relocated a few times before settling in FL to live out their retirement in the warmth of the FL sun. For a number of years Butch and Dottie travelled back and forth from their FL home to their NH home to share in plenty of good times with their friends and family, playing cards, having a lobster bake, sitting by a fire and generally enjoying life while laughing and joking. His comfortable passing at home was facilitated with the help of the nice people from Gentiva Hospice and his daughter Cynthia.
Butch was well loved and will be missed greatly.
