Mr. Sargent was an amazing story teller, and he had a wicked funny sense of humor. I had many classes with him at Eustis High School. As a fellow Italian he always had my back. He encouraged me in my Army career, and I am glad for that. He taught us kids as if we were people who had the ability to think for ourselves. Hopefully he is at peace in God’s arms.
Frank Sargent was one of a kind! A character! He was a great educator, an authentic charmer who really cared about the kids and us.
Whenever he was subbing or teaching physics at Mt Dora High School I always knew that he was there before I actually saw him. The kids would come into my classroom all excited about the fact that Mr. Sargent was at the school. They would go on and on about the stories he told and how interesting he was. I always enjoyed working with him.
The world will be a little less interesting without Frank. He will be missed!
Frank was a special person who served his country and his students well. I was priviledged to work with him at Mt. Dora High. He had a great sense of humor and was the ultimate host. His was a life well lived. We will miss him.
I just found out about his passing today and what sadness this has brought. There are very few people who really make such an impact on your life but “Sarge” sure did. He was my Biology, Marine Biology, and Anatomy and Physiology teacher in high school during the early 80’s and one of the best teachers I ever had. He taught with such enthusiasm and passion and more importantly he was truly interested in his students. I don’t know how many political conversations we had but I thoroughly enjoyed each one and I remember his little smirks when he didn’t agree with my political leanings 😂. I have talked about him often throughout the years and sure wish I could have visited with him again. Rest easy Mr. Sargent.
