Evelyn Arlene Penny's Obituary
Evelyn Arlene Penny, of Leesburg, Florida went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at the age of 94 years. She was born in De Soto, Illinois. Evelyn moved to Michigan at a young age. After high school she met and married Floyd Allen Penny. They were married for 62 years until his passing on December 5, 2001. Evelyn was a homemaker. She and Floyd raised their family in Michigan. In 1982, they moved to Tavares, Florida from Melvindale, Michigan. Evelyn was Baptist by faith and was very dedicated to the Lord’s work. She was a loving and giving person and a supporter of missionary work. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and collecting blue glass. In addition to her husband, Floyd, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Donna Ickes in July of 2011. Evelyn is remembered and will be dearly missed by her sons, David Penny of Roseville, MI and Donald Penny and his wife, Deb of Melvindale, MI; grandchildren, Robert Sims and his wife, Eloise of Leesburg, FL and Ray Sims and his wife, Denise of Holiday, FL, as well as 7 additional grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 13 great-great grandchildren. Family and friends are invited to gather for viewing on Friday, May 8 from 4:00 – 7:00 pm in the funeral home chapel. A funeral ceremony will start at 11:00 am on Saturday in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at Tavares Cemetery. Condolences, memories and photos may be shared on the tribute wall.
