Emma J. “Bunny” Rapalje of Tavares passed away on Friday, June 20, 2014 at the age of 92 years. She was born in Vineland, New Jersey and moved to this area in October of 1949 from Chicago. Bunny worked as a teacher’s assistant at Read Obituary
Bunny was a special lady who always had a smile (and a corny joke) to share. She will be missed by so many including the "secret agent"....my nickname that began with John so many years ago. It was her birthday wish to be reunited with John and now I'm sure she is at peace with "the chief". Enjoy the heavenly choir Ms Bunny!
I feel so blessed to have known Aunt Bunny. My first trip to Florida so many years ago was to visit her, Uncle John and the family, which is when I discovered that "real people" actually live in Florida (before that, I thought it was just rich vacationers and retirees). When I think of Aunt Bunny, I think of her forever smile, photos, the corny jokes she loved to tell that made us all laugh, photos, big Sunday dinners after church, photos, "pink stuff," and of course, photos. :-) She will be missed, but never forgotten. - Laurie
Mrs. Rapalje was such a spark of sunshine. She was one of my Sunday school teachers at First United Methodist Church in Tavares when I was growing up. I also went to school with her very dear children who meant so much to her and her to them. She and Mr. Rapalje were pillars in our church and community. What a precious angel that has entered the pearly gates! My thoughts and prayers are with you all at this time.

I met Bunny when we the Reed family moved to Vineland. Her family the Maytotts were our new and dear friends. Knew John and sang with he and Bunny in the Methodist choir. After marriage and moving to Gainesville, FL, my husband George and daughters visited with them in Tavares. So happy that I got to see Bunny recently when she was here with her granddaughter and aunt. My thoughts and prayers are with all the family.

We are so blessed to have had Aunt Bunny in our life. Her smile was full of love and her jokes were the best. She was a special part of our Groves Churches when the family was in NJ. Heaven's gates had to be opened very wide to make room for all who were waiting for Aunt Bunny. God bless her family as they remember her life. Love, the Walters Family.
