Ella Rose Baxter's Obituary
Ella Rose Baxter, age 86, passed away on September 12, 2011 at her home in Mt. Dora after a protracted illness. She was surrounded by family, friends, and her wonderful nurses from Cornerstone Hospice. She slipped away quietly with her beloved rescue kitty, Muffin, snuggled beside her. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Lewis T. Baxter, and her sister and brother, Winifred Goodman and Eugene Harris. She is survived by her two daughters, Frances B. Goodman of Eustis and Mary B. Chudek of Chisago City, MN. She is also survived by three grandchildren and four great grandchildren in MN and IL. Ella and her husband moved from south Florida to Lake County in 1963 after selling their chain of retail stores. Ella also worked for many years at the Lake Community Hospital in Leesburg on Palmetto Street, which preceded the present LRMC facility. After her retirement, they enjoyed many years of boating, fishing and beautiful sunsets from their Lakeshore Drive home on Lake Eustis. Committal of her cremains will be at a later date at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell beside those of her late husband. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Cornerstone Hospice, 2445 Lane Park Rd., Tavares, FL 32778.
