Edward Stanley Kerr's Obituary
Edward Stanley Kerr (Ed), 74, of Mount Dora, FL, passed away at home at Lakeside, Waterman Village on August 23, 2022. He was born on July 22, 1948, in Staunton, VA to his parents Robert and Margaret Kerr. Ed graduated from Henrico High School, Richmond, VA and from Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond, VA with a degree in Advertising.
He worked as an Advertising Manager/Director for various companies in Virginia including Reynolds Metals Company, Ethyl Corporation, Performance Foodservice and the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services where he retired in 2004.
Ed was a past member and officer of Vettes “R” Us Corvette Club, a member of the Miata Club, a past member of the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Citizens Marine Patrol and the Eustis Gun Club. He served in the Virginia National Guard. Ed enjoyed the outdoors – hiking in the mountains of North Carolina and Virginia and in several National Parks he visited over the years. He was also a certified scuba diver and enjoyed diving at many beautiful island destinations earlier in his life.
He is survived by his wife Susan Kerr; his children Natalie (Ed Lawrence) Kerr of Harrisonburg, VA and James Kerr of Richmond, VA; two grandchildren Katie and Kara Lawrence, Harrisonburg, VA; his sister Harriette (Ben) Kelley of Virginia Beach, VA and nephews Robert (Kim) Kelley of Virginia Beach and Benjie (Suzy) Kelley of Richmond, VA.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Margaret Kerr, a number of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends and three precious Shetland Sheep Dogs, Kayman, Saba and Mango.
A memorial service will be held on September 10, 2022 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel at Waterman Village, Mount Dora, FL. with Chaplain Robert Nickell officiating. Memorials or donations may be made to The Assistance Fund at 4700 Millienia Boulevard, Suite 410, Orlando, FL 32839. On the Memo line of the check, please note Ed Kerr’s name for the memorial.
