Edward D. Filber's Obituary
Edward D. Filber, 85, of Leesburg, Florida, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, February 18, 2025. Born in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, Ed moved to this area in 1989 with his beloved wife, Jeanine. Their love story spanned an incredible 62 years of marriage.
Ed dedicated over 40 years of his life to the roofing industry. He began his career as an installer and spent the last 25 years excelling in roofing sales, retiring two decades ago. Known for his passion for gun collecting, Ed also cherished the great outdoors, spending countless hours hunting and fishing. In his younger years, he was an avid bowler and enjoyed playing pool in a league. He was also a talented handyman who loved tinkering in his garage.
A proud fan of the Green Bay Packers, Ed was also known for his love of Friday night fish fries and Chinese food. He took great joy in singing, especially Elvis Presley songs, and was an active member of the Variety Club at Scottish Highlands.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Olga Filber, and his two brothers, Arthur and James. He leaves behind his loving wife, Jeanine; daughters, Kim J. Hintz of Leesburg and Kristi L. Ward and her husband, James of Rhinelander, Wisconsin; five grandchildren, Keri Hintz of Middletown, Indiana, Brandon (Cristalle) Ward of Auburndale, Florida, Christopher Hintz of Leesburg, Katie Hintz of Eustis, Florida, and Jessica Ward of Rhinelander; as well as eight great-grandchildren.
