Edith "Edie" Ellen Atkins' Obituary
Family and friends, we wanted to share that Edie passed away on Wednesday, June 22, 2022, while at home surrounded by her family. She is now in the loving embrace of Jesus with her health fully restored.
We will celebrate Edie’s life on Monday, July 18, 2022, at 11:00 AM, at Mosaic Church (14175 West Colonial Drive, Winter Garden, FL 34787).
We will always remember Edie for her steadfast faith, deep friendships, gracious manner, frugal nature, and most importantly, her love for her family, especially her husband Noble.
Edie was born on December 4, 1939, in Galveston, Texas, and grew up in Houston, and later, Dallas. Edie married the love of her life, Noble (Jim) on June 1, 1960, the day after graduating from Southern Methodist University (SMU). They shared a wonderful life and family with 62 years of marriage after 3 years of dating and building their friendship.
Her mission field included supporting and serving her family and later sharing the gospel through her faithful witness, including scripture- t-shirts that she wore to all of her medical appointments for many years.
Her favorite verse she lived out daily is Jeremiah 29:11 – “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
Edie is survived by her husband Noble James Atkins, Jr. (Jim), daughter Jenny Wetter, son-in-law Jeff Wetter, grandchildren Jeffrey, John, and Jill Wetter, son Hiep Atkins, daughter Allyson Atkins, son Noble James Atkins, III (Chip), daughter-in-law Nicole Atkins, and grandchildren Ester and Miryam Atkins.
Although Edie’s favorite flowers are white daisies, in lieu of flowers, the family is asking that any offerings be made to the Moffitt Cancer Center where she received incredible care during her recent treatment.
