Eddie Blanton
August 26, 1937 – October 25, 2025
Tavares, FL — Eddie Blanton, age 88, of Tavares, Florida, passed away peacefully on October 25, 2025.
Eddie was born on August 26, 1937, and grew up in Flatwoods, Kentucky. He graduated from Wurtland High School with the Class of 1955 and proudly joined the United States Navy the same year, serving his country with dedication and pride.
After his service, Eddie built a lifelong career in construction, where he worked his way up to become a skilled superintendent and builder by trade. His strong work ethic and leadership left a lasting mark on every project he touched.
Eddie was deeply committed to his fellow veterans and proudly served as Commander of the American Legion Post 360 in New Paris, Ohio.
He enjoyed life’s simple pleasures — boxing, riding motorcycles, and fishing were among his favorite pastimes. He was a man who valued hard work, family, and a good laugh, and he will be remembered for his steady spirit and kind heart.
Eddie was preceded in death by his parents, Ida Mae and Jesse Blanton, and his brothers Estill, Buddy, and Bob.
He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Carlene Blanton; his children Tony Blanton (Denise), Anita Blanton, Nick Martin (Jess), and Jamie Mills (Wayne); eight grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren, who will all carry his memory forward with love.
Eddie’s life was one of devotion — to family, to craft, to country, and to the joy of a day well spent. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
