To the Duerr family, You have my most heartfelt condolence in the loss of "Uncle Doug" He was one of the best CASTmembers I have ever had the pleasure to work with. He was just one of those all around special people that God puts in your life. Even though he was only with us for a short period of time, he made a tremendous impact not only on every CASTmember, but every guest that had the pleasure to take his tour.

My condolences to the Duerr family on the loss of Doug. He and I first met when we were both much younger, I was a new credit union employee at Notre Dame Credit Union and Doug was working at the Indiana Credit Union League. His life long service and committment to the credit union network at both ICUL and NASCUS will long be remembered and appreciated by those who today enjoy the benefits of credit union ownership in Indiana and across the nation. He was always a good friend to any of us who had the good fortune to work with him.

Doug and I met when we worked for IN Credit Union League in Indianapolis. When he moved to Washington, DC my son and I were on vacation there one summer and Doug was kind enough to plan the most fabulous day to day tours for us that we will never forget. Our deepest condolences to Doug's family. We have been praying for his eternal rest in the House of the Lord as well as for the family to find solace and comfort.
We met Doug through Hunter Safety in Florida and we were able to form a tight team, easily and effortlessly teaching a subject that was dear to all of us. His sense of humor was extraordinary and his perspective on current topics,whichever it may have been was uncanny. We will surely miss our tete-a-tetes on a variety of subjects that could vary from the serious to the whimsical.
Though we are saddened by his departure, faith also brings us the comfort he is with the Lord.
I didn't have the opportunity to know Doug as long as I would have wanted - only a few years. However I knew Doug to be a man of principles, immense knowledge and quick wit. It was truly a pleasure to know Doug and I miss him more than he would have known. My thoughts & prayers go out to Diana and family during this time.
It's truly been a privilage knowing Doug. From the first time he introduced himself to me, I knew he was a person of integrity. He was a meticulous business professional that set an example for anyone he came in contact with. In the years partnering in business with Doug, he held his business and mine to the highest standard and represented true professionalism and dedication to the students in which he provided personal firearms handling instruction. Personally, we enjoyed attending functions with he and Diana, such as: Republican dinners (as their guest), NRA fundraisers and other personal events. Doug was funny, never met a stranger and he made an impression that would last a lifetime. Not only was he a business partner but a true friend. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

After completing my senior year of high school, my grandma Diana and Doug offered for me to come back to Virginia to stay with them. Eager at the opportunity to see one of the most influential states of American history as well as spend quality time with them both, I graciously accepted. Both my grandma Diana and Doug had prepared an extensive itinerary that "left no stone unturned" when it came to the rich history that Virginia has to offer. Knowing my particular interest in the Civil War, my grandma Diana and Doug took me to nearly every landmark and battle field in Virginia. Doug was able to, from memory, educate me about the details of each battle as well its historical significance. I admired his knowledge but more so his patience with me. Doug was particularly jealous that my ancestry had been traced back to Confederate ties in the Civil War while his ancestry was Union. We had a good laugh about this and talked about what our ancestors would have done while in the war. We both shared an unwavering and devout love of American freedom and the 2nd Amendment. He will be missed dearly and the world is a lesser place in his absence.
