Dottie Marie Gross Elliston's Obituary
DOTTIE MARIE GROSS ELLISTON, age 101 1/2, departed to glory on November 2, 2021, to join her beloved husband RICHARD CHARLES ELLISTON (1912-1986) and eldest daughter PHYLLIS ELAINE CASSIDY (1938-2009). Dottie was born to her parents HARRY EUGENE and FLORENCE MARIE JOHNSON on May 1, 1920, in a little country town OSBORN, OHIO, BATH IWSP, CRIEN, COUNTY, OHIO. Transportation was by horse and buggy. The family moved to Dayton, Ohio in 1925. At age 16 she was married and gave birth to two daughters. The times were tough. She survived the Big Depression – World War- the rationing of and gas that affected everyone. The family moved to Leesburg, Florida in 1956. Dottie’s daughter, Iris Graduated from Leesburg High School in 1958. Dottie then earned her GED DIPLOMA in Nov. 1958. Her life changed. She became a Real Estate Saleswoman, then Real Estate Broker – then a State Certified Waste Water Plant Manager- then State Certified Potable Water Plant Manager. She went on to be a Mobile Home Park Manager in Citrus County from 1974 to 1986. In 1959 Dottie joined “THE ORDER OF THE EASTERN STAR- Leesburg Chapter No. 84, Leesburg, Florida. On Dec 21, 1960, Dottie gave birth to a son, JOHN PAUL GROSS. Dottie lived a full and blessed life. She Joined the LADIES ORIENTAL SHRINE of NORTH AMERICA (1986) and made clothing for TAMPA SHRINE HOSPITAL for children, boys and girls for over 25 years, until her eyes failed. Dottie was also a member of the LAKE SHRINE WOMAN’S AUXILLARY in Tavares, FL.

Dottie will be missed by Family, Friends and Members of the Oriental Shrine Nefertiti Court, Cairo Court and many other Courts of North America and The Order of the Eastern Star of Leesburg Chapter No. 84, Leesburg, FL.
A viewing will be held on Friday, December 3, 2021, from 5:00-7:00PM at Steverson Hamlin and Hilbish Chapel in Tavares, FL. Funeral Service will be held Saturday December 4, 2021, at Steverson Hamlin and Hilbish Chapel in Tavares at 1PM. Interment will take place immediately following the service at Lakeside Memory Gardens in Eustis, FL.
