Dorothy Phyllis Johnson's Obituary
Dorothy Phyllis Johnson (Perkins) was born in Jasper, Florida to James Willie and Ollie Mae Perkins. She was a resident of Mt. Dora, Florida when she passed away on Friday, January 8, 2016 at the age of 88. She moved to Maryland in 1946 when she married her husband George F. Jones, who preceded her in death. She lived most of her adult life in Maryland returning to Florida in 2014. She worked for Anne Arundel County as a teacher’s aide and did clerical work at the Mental Health Clinic until she retired. She was a member of St. Alban’s Episcopal Church in Maryland and was very involved in church activities. Her religion and bible study were very important to her. She loved family, traveling, the outdoors and swimming. She enjoyed crafts, reading and selling Avon. She was preceded in death by her second husband of 36 years, Thomas K. Johnson, her parents, and her sisters, Catherine Marcile, Anna Ruth, Mary Nell, and Gwendolyn. Dorothy is lovingly remembered and will be deeply missed by her daughters, Dorothy A. Moore and husband Douglas of Leesburg, Fl., Deborah L. Seward and husband Mark of Ft. Ashby, West Virginia, son George Alan Jones of Catonsville, Maryland, brothers Alfred B. Perkins and his wife, Elvia of Jacksonville, Florida, Raymond C. Perkins of Newport News, Virginia, and sister Joyce P. Snow of Chester, Maryland, grandchildren Kristy and Scott Moore, Lauren and Harrison Seward, and great grandchildren, Tyler Moore, Kalli and Renee Weaver. A memorial service will be conducted at a later time. Condolences, memories and photos may be shared on the tribute wall.
