Dorothy Jean Brown's Obituary
Dorothy Jean “Jeannie” Brown, 80 of Tavares passed away peacefully at home on February 16. Born on February 18, 1943 in Colorado City, Texas to Billie Bane Owens and Dorothy Heard Owens. She was married to William F. “Bill” Brown, Jr. After marriage they lived on Frank’s Farm in Astatula, before moving to her home of over 30 years in Tavares Ridge, Tavares.
She was a stern but yet a very loving and caring mom, wife, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved to share stories about her family and all their accomplishments. Mom loved animals and was interested in what a person was doing. She was friendly and never met a stranger and loved working and helping others. More recently she enjoyed her unplanned trips to Texas to visit with her family, but most importantly to spend time with her sister.
She was preceded in death by her son Michael W Davis, great-grandson Landon Henderson, mother and step-father Dorothy and Russell Newberry, father Billie Owens and brother Floyd Owens. She leaves behind her husband Bill Brown, son Eric Davis (Gina), daughter-in-law Michelle Durkee, step-children Greg Brown (Karen), Karen Brown Snider (David), Cheryl Haase (David), grandchildren Zachery Davis, Taylor Davis, Amber Brooks (Jeremy), Emily Buckner (Donnie), Austin Davis (Emma), Megan Davis, eight step-grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren Skyler, Alvee, Ava, Kali, Lyla, Cole, Camden, Elijah, 13 step-great grandchildren. Sister Darlene (Gayland) Carter, sister-in-law Jean Hicklin, several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
Visitation for family and friends will be held at Steverson, Hamlin & Hilbish Funeral Home, Tavares on Friday, March 1 from 1:00-2:00 pm. Graveside services will be held immediately following at Lakeside Memory Gardens, Eustis
