Dorothy K. Bowen's Obituary
Dorothy Kellogg Dunbar Bowen, 97, of Tavares, Florida, went home to her heavenly Father on April 20, 2018, with family by her side.
Dorothy was born on August 21, 1920, in New Jersey and raised in New Jersey and Vermont. As a single woman, she worked on maps during WWII and painted souvenirs for Green Mountain Studios. Dorothy married Robert Bowen on June 27, 1947. She was a wonderful mother and homemaker and especially appreciated for her baking skills. She has been lovingly cared for by her children in Connecticut, Michigan, and her Tavares home over the past ten years.
Dorothy and Robert had eight children, raising them in Vermont and Michigan. She will be dearly missed by her surviving six children and their spouses, who are Judith and her husband Thomas Foley, Dale and her husband Glenn Martin, Sara Lapointe, David and his wife Rosann, Glenn, and Laura. Dorothy has 14 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. Preceding Dorothy in death are her husband Robert, her daughter Diane, her son John, her parents, her two sisters, her son-in-law Jeffrey Lapointe, and an infant granddaughter Angela.
Dorothy and Robert moved from Vermont to Florida in 1981. Dorothy loved walking the seashore, collecting shells, making ceramics, and drawing. After Robert’s retirement, they enjoyed traveling around the USA in their camper.
At a later date, the family will hold a graveside service in Randolph, Vermont.
Condolences, memories and photos can be shared on the tribute wall.
