Doris Taylor Burrows' Obituary
Doris Taylor Burrows, age 86, of Tavares, FL passed away on Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at her home in Lake Dora. She was born July 15, 1928 in Pitman, NJ to the late Ralph and Edith Taylor. She graduated in 1947 from Pitman High School. Doris loved sports and was a varsity hockey player and a cheerleader for four years while in high school. It was in 1946 that Doris discovered her life-long passion for art and painting. Doris was married in 1950 to the late Edward E. Burrows. They had one daughter, the late Meerhis Lynn Hollows. Doris and Ed moved to Aiken, SC in 1952 when Meerhis was 6 weeks old. After retirement, the couple spent their winter months in Florida having lots of fun at a wonderful campground, The Oaks. After Ed passed, Doris spent more and more time in Florida. She met up with her good friend Dr. William Purser (Doc) and they started a new life together in Tavares, FL. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Cornerstone Hospice in Tavares. Doris was cremated and laid to rest in the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL next to her late husband. A Graveside Ceremony will be held at the cemetery on Friday, March 27, 2015 at 1:30PM. Arrangements have been entrusted to Steverson, Hamlin & Hilbish Funerals and Cremations, 226 E.
