David J. Williams' Obituary
Mr. David J. Williams of Morris, Georgia departed this world on Friday, February 8, 2013 at the age of 74 years to reside forever more with his Heavenly Father. He was born on August 29, 1938 in Toledo, Ohio and spent his childhood in Monroe, Michigan until he entered the Navy in 1956. After his Navy service, David proudly served his country in the US Army, serving two tours in Vietnam. He retired from the Army as a Sergeant First Class. Between the Navy and Army he served more than 22 years, retiring in 1977. Mr. Williams and his family moved to Colorado Springs where he worked for General Growth Management as the Maintenance Director of regional shopping centers until he retired in 2000. He relocated to Florida in 1992, living in Leesburg and Tavares. It was in Florida he met and married his present wife, Jean. Upon retirement, Dave and Jean moved to Biloxi, Mississippi until hurricane Katrina relocated them to Morris. They became members of Morris Baptist Church and Dave became a Sunday School teacher and was ordained a Deacon on January 24, 2010. Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth R. and Genevieve Williams; his step-mother, Wilma (Botner) Williams and his brother, Kenneth L. Williams. He is remembered and will be dearly missed by his wife, Louetta “Jean” Williams; sons, Steven Williams of Highlands Ranch, Colorado and Danny Ludwig of Eustis; daughters, Mary Ludwig of Eustis, Sheryl Douglas of Chapmansboro, Tennessee, Tammy Rollins of Sergeant Bluff, Iowa and Tina Canaby of Sergeant Bluff; brothers, Larry Williams of Beverly, West Virginia, Dennis “Butch” Williams of Orlando, Florida and Thomas Williams of Biloxi, Mississippi; sisters, Loretta “Mickey” Moore of The Villages, Florida and Barbara “”Brady” Thomas of The Villages; as well as 15 grandchildren. A memorial ceremony will start at 3:00 pm on Tuesday, February 12 in the funeral home chapel. Friends are invited to gather from 2:00 pm until the service time. Arrangements are entrusted to Steverson, Hamlin & Hilbish Funerals and Cremations, Tavares, Florida. Condolences and memories may be shared on the tribute wall.
