David Alan Sinnott's Obituary
David A. Sinnott, 70, of Tavares, Florida and East Haddam, Connecticut, passed away peacefully at his home in Florida on Saturday, January 25, 2025, after a long battle with ALS. Born on April 22, 1954, to the late Walter Sinnott, Jr. and Angela (Rondinone) Sinnott of Newington, Connecticut, David spent his career at UPS and was a proud member of Teamsters Local 671 for 40 years.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Susan (Novinski) Sinnott; his daughter, Karen Winzens, and her husband Adam of Norton, MA; and his son, Jeffrey Sinnott, and his wife Heather of East Haddam, CT. David was a proud grandfather to Olivia and Charlotte Winzens and Owen and Noah Sinnott. He is also remembered by several nieces and nephews.
David was predeceased by his parents, Walter and Angela, as well as his brothers, Walter Sinnott III and James E. Sinnott. He grew up in Newington, Connecticut, and graduated from Newington High School in 1972. During his childhood, he spent summers at Bashan Lake in East Haddam, a place that remained dear to him throughout his life. He also earned the ranking of Eagle Scout with the Boy Scouts of America. Throughout his life David was an avid target shooting competitor and advocate for gun safety.
In retirement, David split his time between Florida and Connecticut. In Florida, he continued his passion for target shooting, participating in local gun clubs and spending time with like-minded friends. He cherished his final years surrounded by family and friends and especially enjoyed playing dominoes and cards with his Florida neighbors and friends.
Private services will be held, and a memorial in his honor will take place in Connecticut during the summer. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the ALS Association, 4 Oxford Road, Suite E4, Milford, CT 06460, or to a charity of your choice.
