David Allen Hall's Obituary
David Allen Hall of Sorrento passed away on Friday, March 8, 2019 at the age of 74 years. David was born August 29, 1944 in Talara, Peru to parents John Dale Hall and Ruby Garnet (Parsons) Hall. His family lived in Peru while David's father was working for Standard Oil Company.
After his family returned to the US, David spent his school years in Coral Gables, Florida, graduating from Coral Gables High School in 1962.
David began his career in Law Enforcement in 1965 with the Washington D.C. Police Department. He would vividly recount events that took place while working there, such as the four days of riots following the assassination of Martin Luther King, the Beatles coming to town, and the responsibilities of police protection for various Presidents and dignitaries.
After returning to Florida, David worked for the Seminole County Sheriff's Office through the 1970's, eventually working for the State Attorney's Office in Seminole County. David finished his career working for the Lake County Sheriff's Office as Chief Deputy, retiring in 1997.
David has been married to "the love of his life" Karen since 1978. They have traveled extensively together and enjoyed many happy years both before and after retirement.
An avid reader, David enjoyed all things history, war, and crime, compiling a large library of many books on these subjects. He and Karen loved to visit historic sites, towns and museums. For a period of time they enjoyed cruising (although he's probably one of few people who loved cruises but did not own a bathing suit!)
He is preceded in death by his parents, and two older brothers Donald Myers Hall, & John Denton Hall.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made to the Lake County Animal Shelter (28123 County Road 561, Tavares, FL 32778). Little known fact: hard-nosed cop David Hall was an animal-lover!
A memorial ceremony is scheduled for Saturday, March 23 at 11:00 am in the funeral home chapel. Family and friends are invited to gather 1 hour prior from 10:00 - 11:00 am.
Condolences, memories and photos may be shared on the tribute wall.
