Daren Wayne Reed's Obituary
Daren Wayne Reed, 63 years old, was born September 12, 1961 in Huntington, Indiana. He passed on April 16, 2025 with his family at his side filling his final moments with love and comfort.
He was greeted on the other side by his parents, Donald and Camilla Reed.
Still here to carry his spirit are the people who meant the world to him: his wife and best friend, Tammy Reed, who walked every step of this journey with him; his mother-in-law, Dovie Preston, who loved him like her own; his siblings Dan and Lori of Clearwater, Florida, and Chris and Brad Thorp of Ohio.
Above all else, Daren was a proud and loving father to his four children; Donny (Heather) Reed, Annette (Justin) Spencer, Trisha Wirt, and Mandy (Zach) Eller.
He didn't just raise his kids, he raised strong, honest, hard-working people who know how to meet life head-on. He taught them that your word means everything, that you show up when you say you will, and that doing things the right way - even when it's the hard way - is truly what builds a good life.
Daren was "Grandpa" to seven amazing grandchildren: Brionna, Blake, Huston, Juliana, Aliyah, Brooklyn, and Tyden, and great-grandson, Axel. Though none of them had nearly enough time with him, the memories, the laughter, the lessons, and the love will live forever in our hearts.
Daren wasn't one to sit still. He lived life his way, full of hard work, new adventures, big laughs, and good times. For over 20 years, he worked for the City of Huntington, always rolling up his sleeves and doing what needed to be done. Later, he made a new home down in Tavares, Florida, where he worked and retired in December of 2024 from Massey Services.
Daren knew how to kick back and enjoy simple pleasures. He loved golfing - not just the game, but the laughs and good company that came with it. Recently, he picked up a new hobby: remodeling golf carts, putting his hands and creativity to good use in ways that made him proud.
His favorite place was out on the patio with music playing, a cold drink nearby, good conversation with his buddies - and always at his side, his loyal dog, Damian, who was never far from his chair. He lived for those little moments. Daren wasn't just here, he lived. And that's how we will remember him.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Details for services will be shared with family and friends.
