My mother, my best friend, the person that reminded me continuously that I could do anything I set my mind to and to never stop dreaming. We would talk some times for hours and it never got old and I miss those days. It's been 11 years and I think and talk to her every day. My dad passed in 2019 and never recovered from losing her. They are both now together, thank God.
What can I say Aunty, one of the finest women I ever knew and Loved so much! We often said I got traded somehow at birth cause I act just like you and for that I am PROUD! You let us nieces and nephews get into a little trouble while Mom wasn't looking! I know we all had the same "pet" name at one time or another you would say " YOU LITTLE SH*T"...... Dear Hank and Family, I was shocked to hear of the passing of Mama Bear, who has been one of the best friends a person could ever have. I will treasure all the times and memories we shared together in New Bern. Hank, here is a big hug for you "X". In all the recent emails I had been getting from her I felt something was wrong with her mind...she never answered me back but sent another email..I loved her dearly and will miss her. I have been married to Tom for 25 years and during that time Snooks and I had many great moments as mother-in-law and daughter-in-law.We would often joke that we liked similar things when we shopped and loved the odd an unusual things that noone else would buy!We never knew what we would do with some of the things we bought but we had alot of laughs doing it! We stayed up late many nights rummaging thru junk jewelry, old things that she and Hank had collected over the years looking thru antique books or just talking.Her first bit of mother in law wisdom was "keep some money to yourself and never tell my son...she called it "fun money" I followed her advice but I guess our little secret is out now. For me it will always be "Hank and Snooks" and I will remember her looking down her nose, over her colorful eyeglasses and saying "you dont know who you are dealing with do you..well let me tell you.....but I think we all know. Snooks loved Hank,her four sons and all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren and I will always smile when I think of her.##imported-begin##Dianne Henry##imported-end##
Colleen was a very loved artist friend of mine. WE met in New Bern through Kathy Pickett and were involved in the Twin Rivers Art Assoc. together. She and I painted and laughed togther in classes and several workshops. I have some wonderful photos of her from those workshops that I will cherish. She knew I loved frogs and made me "trade" her a nickel for a lovely silver frog pin which I wear often and always thank her for. I will now cherish it even more now. Colleen always had a joke and a laugh for everyone and made every day a brighter one. I will remember her for her laughter, her smiles and also for her paintings. One of my favorite sayings is "Life is a canvas..paint your own masterpiece".... and I think Colleen did just that! Our deepest sympathy. Colleen was a dear friend. As an art friend to me(Peggy)and as the Beanie Baby Lady to the both of us. I had recently lost contact with she and Hank. Colleen was one of the founders of Twin Rivers Artist Association, a local artist group, that is still in existence in New Bern, NC. The last time I saw she and Hank was at a resturant along with her mother. Thanks so much for letting us know. Again deepest sympathy to all the family.
