Clive "Buddy" Manson Yates' Obituary
Clive Manson Yates, affectionately known as “Buddy,” passed away peacefully at his home in Leesburg, Florida, on August 11, surrounded by loved ones. He was 87 years old.
Born on August 11, 1938, in Miami, Florida, to William H. and Dorcas P. Yates, Buddy was a proud Floridian through and through. He spent nearly his entire life in the Sunshine State, which he loved dearly – not just for its warm weather, but for its people, its rhythm, and its spirit. Though he also enjoyed trips to the mountains of Georgia, Florida was always home. He embraced the lifestyle it offered with gratitude and pride.
Buddy graduated from Miami Edison High School, where he was a standout football player. He continued playing through college while studying business and accounting at both the University of Florida and the University of Miami. Football remained one of his lifelong passions, and he often spoke of the friendships, discipline, and life lessons he gained on the field.
Though he began his career as an accountant, Buddy had a sharp mind for business and a strong entrepreneurial spirit. Over the years, he owned and managed several companies, including but not limited to Yates Construction Company, Pre-Flight Cargo Services, and Central Florida Realty & Investment Homes, Inc., earning the admiration and respect of colleagues, staff, and clients alike.
Known for his tireless work ethic, clever wit, and deep love for God and his family, Buddy brought passion to everything he did. In his free time, he enjoyed trading stocks, scouting real estate opportunities, and always keeping an eye out for a good deal. But his greatest joy came from spending time with the love of his life, Sandra Yates. Buddy and Sandi met in 1985, and it was an instant love match. They married one year later and shared a fairytale romance, remaining inseparable throughout the years.
Buddy is survived by his devoted wife, Sandra Yates; his children, Sara Blevins and Gregory Yates; his stepchildren, Joseph Rogers and Brandy McDonald; and his nine beloved grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, William H. and Dorcas P. Yates, and his brother, William “Sonny” H. Yates, Jr.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in his memory. https://www.alz.org/?form=FUNCMUBNCQZ
