Clinton Francis Fortune III's Obituary
Clinton Francis Fortune, III age 69, of Leesburg passed away on Monday December 2, 2019. Clint was born in New Haven, Connecticut and moved to Miami, FL with his mother and younger brother in 1961. There he finished primary school in preparation for attending college at UCONN. Soon after college he enlisted in the Navy and sailed aboard the U.S.S. John F. Kennedy during the Vietnam War. After his honorable discharge from military service Clint found his way into law enforcement and retired from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE); a career that spanned 25 years until he retired in 2009.
Clint was preceded in death by his wife, Cheryl V. Fortune, and is survived by his children, Clinton F. (Tammy) Fortune, IV, Colleen (Ed) Cubbage, Shannon Sampson, Grant Sampson, Adam Sampson, his 7 grandchildren (Clint, Jonathan, Kyle, Corey, Keegan, Tyler, and Mya), and younger brother, Edward (Debra) Fortune.
The family will receive friends and family for a public viewing on Thursday, December 5, 2019 from 4:00PM to 6:00 PM at Steverson, Hamlin & Hilbish Funeral Home in Tavares. A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 6, 2019 at 11:00AM in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow at the Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Leesburg, FL.
