Charlotte Lorraine Canton's Obituary
Charlotte Lorraine Canton, age 78, of Tavares passed away on Saturday, August 2, 2014. She was born November 21, 1935 in Minneapolis, MN and moved to Tavares in 2011 from Elk River, MN. She worked many years as a medical ward secretary at a hospital. She was a member of the Church of Saint Andrew, Elk River, MN, where she was a long term volunteer at the school. She also volunteered for C.A.R.E. in Elk River, MN, and was a member of the Southern Belles Red Hatters in FL. Her greatest joy was her children, grandchildren, and her sisters and brothers. Many of her younger siblings thought of her as a second mother. As one sister said, “she was loved a lot because she loved a lot.” She is survived by her sons, Craig (Dawn) Canton of Champlin, MN and Mark (Linda) Canton of Zimmerman, MN; daughter, Deborah (Joe) Gubbels of Rosemount, MN; brothers, Mike Poisson of Big Lake, MN and Joseph Poisson of Pine River, MN; sisters, Betty Rosine of Leesburg, FL, Janice Collins of Tavares, FL, Marlene Bourke of Columbia Heights, MN, Bonita Loberg of Nine Mile Falls, WA, Jenny Kiebach of Hardwick, MN, and Renee Poisson of Malvern, IA; grandchildren, Garrett Canton, Stephanie (Matt) Klein, Catherine Gubbels, Michael Gubbels, Adam Canton, and Abbie Canton. She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Raymond John Canton; a brother, Ronald Poisson; and a sister, Mary Ann Poisson.
FLORIDA SERVICES - The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 7, 2014 from 3:00PM until 5:00PM at Steverson Hamlin & Hilbish Funeral Home, Tavares. A Prayer Service will be held during the visiting hours at 4:00PM in the funeral home chapel.
MINNESOTA SERVICES - The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 12, from 4:00PM until 7:00PM at The Church of St. Andrew in Elk River. A Funeral Mass will held Wednesday, August 13, at 11:00 at the Church of Saint Andrew with visitation one hour prior to the ceremony.
