Charles O. Wheeler's Obituary
Charles (Charlie) O. Wheeler, age 91, of Tavares, FL passed away December 12, 2015, at Cornerstone Hospice in Tavares, FL. He was born December 2, 1924 in Sapulpa, OK, the son of William and Alice (Wisner) Wheeler. He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Velza, Nathan, Gladys, Bonnie, Clifton, and Stanley. He was a 1943 graduate of Sapulpa High School. After graduation he entered the U.S. Navy serving with the 119th Seabee Battalion in New Guinea and the Philippines until the end of World War II. He married Olive B. Gurtzweiler of Tecumseh, MI on January 17, 1947. Olive preceded him in death on October 28th of this year. He was a master plumber at Ford Motor Company in Ypsilanti, MI for 28 years. Charlie was an avid golfer and he enjoyed fishing and traveling. Charlie is survived by his children Sue (Dennie) Grehl of Tavares, FL, Douglas (Nancy) Wheeler of Jackson, MI and Alyce (Bernie) Stump of Saline, MI. Two grandchildren Elaine (Tree) Grehl-Sturman of Traverse City, MI and Stephen Stump of Saline, MI. Cremation has already taken place. Services will be held at a later date for him and his wife Olive at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL. Condolences, memories and photos may be shared on the tribute wall.
