Charles "Charlie" Louis Sprauer's Obituary
Charles L. “Charlie” Sprauer of Tavares, Florida passed away on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at the age of 83 years. He was born in Maspeth, Queens, New York. Charlie proudly served his country in the US Army in the Korean War, leaving his new wife seven days after their wedding to serve two years overseas. After the war, Charlie owned an appliance sales and repair store in Long Island before moving to Stuart, Florida 50 years ago. In Stuart, Charlie was a charter fishing boat captain of “The Oodles” for many years. He loved fishing and boating and especially enjoyed road trips and traveled all over the United States. He relocated to Tavares twelve years ago. Charlie was a member of the American Legion for 65 years and St. Patrick Catholic Church in Mount Dora. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Cheryl Sprauer in 1963 and his son, Gregg Sprauer in 1996, as well as his brother, Fred Sprauer. Charlie is remembered and will be dearly missed by his wife of 63 years, Virginia “Ginny” Sprauer; sons, Charles Jr. “Chuck” Sprauer and his wife, Kristina of Stuart and Gary Charles Sprauer and his wife, Patricia of Clermont, Florida; daughter, Caroll Grimando of Apopka, Florida; sister, Rose Damulewicz and her husband, Anthony of Northport, Long Island, NY; seven grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
