Carson B. Edwards' Obituary
Carson Bayard Edwards, age 74, passed away at his home in Leesburg, Florida, October 31, 2018.
Carson, a native Virginian, was born May 8, 1944, in Lynchburg, Virginia and raised in Lexington. As a teenager he left home and went to live with relatives in Culpeper and ended up working on a farm.
Carson served in the United States Army between 1963-65 and was stationed in Germany. He served with the Corps of Engineers.
When Carson returned home to Virginia, he met and married his first wife, Helen Dodson (Dove), and had a daughter, Teresa,making their home in Catlett, Virginia. Carson lived in Catlett for 16 years. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, was a favorite of all the neighborhood kids because he always had candy in his pockets, and was well known for driving his red 1962 Ford Galaxy.
Carson and his second wife Maree Edwards (Samen) married in 1990 and lived in Manassas, Virginia before moving to Leesburg, Florida, in the early 90’s, making their home in Scottish Highlands. Carson also worked at Haines Creek Garage and Tire Center for many years before retiring. Carson and Maree enjoyed travelling and visited many places like Alaska, Mexico and The Caribbean. They especially enjoyed taking cruises together.
Carson loved cars and enjoyed going to car races and car shows with his friends. He competed in car shows with his own car, a 1965 Thunderbird, winning many trophies. Carson also enjoyed attending church and the last church he attended had been Central Baptist in Leesburg.
Carson was predeceased by his wife Maree Edwards, his mother Annie Mae E. Smith, and a brother David Smith. He is survived by his daughter, Teresa Edwards, of Catlett, Virginia and a sister, Pamela Schwartz, of Keyser, West Virginia.
