Carol Sue Langer's Obituary
Carol Sue Langer, 84, of Leesburg, Florida, passed away peacefully on July 4th, 2025, after a brief stay at Cornerstone Hospice in Tavares, FL.
Carol was born in Champaign Illinois in 1940 to Thorne and Mary (Rosenberger) Matteson. She was the third born of her siblings and from a young age she's always been drawn to artistic and crafty endeavors. Carol graduated Champaign Senior Highschool, where she played clarinet in the school band. Through her youth years she spent time with her friends hanging out at the local post office and helping raise her younger brother John. After years of being a stay-at-home mother, she made a career at TCF bank as a Banking Administrator, where she worked a successful thirty-five years until retirement. Carol was a very independent woman living comfortably who was able to spend her last few years soaking up the sun in Florida, doing crafts, hours of sewing, taking long walks with her dog (or taking golf cart rides) while making new friends while enjoying dining out with them.
Carol will be remembered for always being in the craft club, she was very talented at creating handmade art, her enjoyment for plants and funny things in her yard, her love for her dog, a very talented seamstress, finding pleasure in theater, and reading lots of good books. She did a large amount of golfing and bowling. She played on a bowling league every winter she could. Not as many years as she hit a ball around the golf course though. Carol always took time to travel and go visit her family as life allowed her too.
She is survived by brother John ( Dawn) Matteson of Urbana, IL ; son David Schwenk (Zoey) of Leesburg, FL, daughter Jacqueline Langer Stillwater, MN; two grandson's Quinn and Dylan Knudsvig; three nephews Warren Grob, Chris Grob and Rick Matteson ( Nening ) and four nieces; Sonja Grob, Becky Burton, Leslie Matteson and Regina Grob and numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents Thorne and Mary Matteson, her brother Sonny Matteson and Sister Beverly Matteson.
