Carmi Michael Garrett's Obituary
Carmi Michael Garrett, affectionately known as “Poppy,” passed away peacefully on July 11, 2026, in Astatula, Florida, at the age of 70.
Born on October 4, 1955, in North Troy, Vermont, Carmi lived a life defined by dedication to his family, service to his country, and a strong work ethic. He married the love of his life, Sandra Marie Garrett, on October 23, 1976, in Bennington, Vermont. Together they built a loving marriage that spanned nearly five decades. In 1978, Carmi and Sandra made Florida their home, where they raised their family and created countless cherished memories.
Carmi proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for four years. Following his military service, he enjoyed a successful career in the food industry, eventually retiring as a Purchasing Agent ten years ago.
A devoted family man, Carmi found his greatest joy in spending time with those he loved. He could often be found cheering on the New England Patriots, watching his favorite cooking shows, and sharing stories and laughter with family and friends. His warm heart, sense of humor, and unwavering support earned him the beloved nickname “Poppy,” a title he carried with pride.
Carmi was preceded in death by his daughter, Amy Smith; his brother, Ralph Garrett Jr.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sandra Marie Garrett; his daughter, Christina Garrett; his siblings, Raymond Garrett, John Garrett, Kathy Siclari, and Rosanna Neal; and his cherished grandchildren, Dalton, Keyen, Daijah, Raina, and Grady.
A memorial service honoring Carmi's life will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at Steverson, Hamlin & Hilbish Funerals and Cremations. Family and friends are invited to gather from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., with the memorial service beginning at 2:00 p.m.
Carmi's legacy of love, loyalty, and dedication to family will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
