Carl Hugo Brinkman's Obituary
Carl H. Brinkman, 88, of Tavares, Florida. Born on December 6, 1927, in Milwaukee, WI, passed away on February 26, 2016. Carl retired from Orlando Utilities Commission in 1986 after 37 years of service. Most of all he loved his family. The memories are many and one of his favorite things to do was to go to flea markets, yard sales and thrift shops. Carl would buy old “worthless” watches, fix them up and we would all proudly wear them. And, sometimes he bought items that went right back out the door! All one had to say is “Carl, I need this” and he would be on a mission. He collected antique model cars and always loved it when his Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren would come and he would share memories of his old cars. All of them now have one of the cars in his memory. Carl loved playing cards with Irene and their friends. Mind you now, he also loved winning….wasn’t so fun when he lost. Carl always had a blast enjoying fishing, scalloping and just having fun with the family and friends. He was loved by all. He will be missed but always with good thoughts and memories. Carl is survived by his wife Irene, Tavares, Sister Elsie Chapman, Longwood, son Dennis Brinkman (Doris), daughter Beverly Bradford (Charles). Grandchildren: Amy Fortenberry (Alan), Mt. Dora, Kelly Steinke (Kevin), Umatilla, Keri Haines (Pat) of Quantrico, Va., Lauren Ilgenfritz (Ryan), Lake Nona, Nathan Bradford (Kate), Tracie Howell (John), Monroe, Tn, Eric Bateman (Wendy), Grand Island, Fl. Twelve Great-Grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to Cornerstone Hospice of Lake County or American Cancer Society. Arrangements have been entrusted to Steverson, Hamlin & Hilbish Funerals and Cremations, 226 E. Burleigh Blvd., Tavares, FL 32778, (352)343-4444. Online condolences may be left on the Tribute Wall.
