Caboose Hawthorne's Obituary
Caboose Hawthorne, age 86, of Umatilla, FL passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 20, 2025. He was born April 8, 1939 in Black, AL to Jeffey and Nettie Hawthorne. He moved to Lake County in 1962 from Alabama. He was a farmer and loved to garden. He eventually went on to work and retire from Golden Gem in Umatilla. He loved his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and his entire family. He is survived by his son, Greg Hawthorne of Umatilla, FL; daughters, Tammie Henry and her husband, Rick of Umatilla, FL, Molly Howard and her husband Kevin of Grand Island, FL; grandchildren, Linsey Henry Hawkins, Derek Henry, Amy Taylor Breedlove, Chelsey Henry Fiducia, Zac Taylor, Kayla Hawthorne Gibson, Bryson Hawthorne; 12 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews, including Allan Hawthorne who he loved like a brother. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jeffey and Nettie Hawthorne; brothers, Pete, Tommy, Ned, Hamp, Roy, and Jack Hawthorne; sisters, Lura Mae Gibson and Evelyn Bittinger. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lakeview Terrace Residents Association Employees' Scholarship Fund, 331 Raintree Drive, Altoona, FL 32702.
