Bruce Franklin Slane's Obituary
Bruce Franklin Slane passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, February 26, 2017 at the age of 74.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hughie and Jean Slane.
Bruce is survived by the love of his life, Bobbie McRoberts (They shared a great life together in Grand Island, FL with their dog, Miss Honda); One Daughter, Robin Harrison of Michigan; Brother, Hughie Martin Slane and Sister-in-law, Deana Slane of Michigan; Sister, Becky Bertke and Brother-in-law, Terry Bertke of Marion, Ohio; Aunt, Katy Coleman of Powell, Ohio; Nephews, Jody (Lori) Roberts and Chad Slane, both of Michigan; Great-Nephews, Hayden Oates and Nicholas Slane; Nieces, Brandy Oates of Mt Victory, Ohio and Melinda Slane of Michigan; Great-Nieces, Lexie and Jackie Oates & Kailey and Elissa Slane and two best friends, Ernie Pine and Darius Bumgartiner. He loved them dearly.
Bruce worked with Natures Chemical Company and then Dow Chemical Company; From there he switched to being a fireman in Athens, Ohio and later began a new life as a Police Officer in Sandusky, Ohio. There he attended the Highway Patrol Academy and was then hired by The Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office. Bruce also served as the Chief of Police for Ross Township, Michigan and Chief of Police for Hartford, Michigan. His next Tour of Duty was the Palm Beach Sheriff’s Department, Palm Beach, Florida. There he received many awards and commendations. Bruce retired from Palm Beach in 2002.
A Memorial Service will be held in Marion, Ohio at the Steven Chaney VFW Post 7201 at 11:30 AM on Saaturday, March 11, 2017. Lunch will be served immediately after the services.
