Betty June Anderson's Obituary
Betty June Anderson, 89, of Tavares, passed away on November 11, 2009. She was born in Mission, TX on June 4, 1920 to the parents of John Burton Close and Carrie Peterson. She lived with her parents until she was 4 when her mother died, she then went to live with her aunt and her brother, age 6, went to live with another aunt. She graduated from high school in Marysville, KS and attended one year at the University of Nebraska. She taught one year in a country school in Axtell, KS in 1940 during which she met her husband Jack. Shortly after, they moved to Van Nays, CA, where she worked from 1940 to 1944 at Lockheed installing bombay doors in B-17 bombers. In 1950 they moved to Kansas City Mo and in 1962 they moved to Tampa, FL. In 1993, they moved to Tavares, FL to be near their daughter and son-in-law. Betty enjoyed gardening, cooking, participating in various church activities; and she and her husband enjoyed remodeling their home. She was a member and regularly attended Round Lake Christian Church of Mt. Dora. She is survived by her son, Randall (Cathy) Anderson of Valrico, FL; daughter, Linda (Douglas) Gavin of Tavares, FL; grandchildren, Douglas Gavin, Jeremy and Kristen Anderson; and great-grandchildren, Brittany Metz and Stephon Williams. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Edolf Anderson of 59 years of marriage.In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to Cornerstone Hospice, 2445 Lane Park Road, Tavares, FL 32778. A Memorial Service will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday, November 15, 2009 at Round Lake Christian Church of Mt. Dora.
