Betty D. Hawthorne's Obituary
Betty Ann Dykes Hawthorne, a lifelong resident of Lake County (Tavares, Mount Dora) passed away Wed. Sept. 11, 2013. Born Feb. 2, 1931 in Washington D.C., she is a graduate of Tavares High School class of 1949 and received her BS in physical education with honors from the U of F in 1953. She received her Masters Degree in Education from Auburn University in 1957.. She is a retired Lake County school teacher. Betty was a professional Psychic Educator. Also known as "Suzanne" she hosted monthly shows on radio stations in Melbourne and Gainesville, FL for the past 20 years. She is survived by her four children, Blaine, Brian, Heather and Hollie Hawthorne Wiggins; brother Herman T. Dykes Jr.; 16 Grandchildren and 1 Great Grandchild. A memorial service will be held on Sun. Sept. 29 from 3-6pm at the Tavares Civic Center, 100 E Caroline St., Tavares FL. A second memorial service will be held at Baughmans Chapel, 982 Museum Road, Gainesville, FL, on Friday Oct. 4 from 7-9 pm.
