Where do I begin....Cliftondale GA is where it all started. My Mom and Joyce and all the kids played together while they talked or went to movies and they dropped us kids off at the skating rink. Remembering the time Frank gave my sister, Diane, Joyce's wedding ring. Boy that was hard to explain and try to get it off Diane's finger. Lastly, there was a vision I had of Petie being found in the dryer. Such good memories and not to forget the last time I gave her a great hug and kiss a couple of years ago at Ralph's funeral. Ralph looked so much like his Mom. She brought such comfort to me talking to her these last few years about when my Mom died. Since they were such good friends back then it really made me feel so close to my Mom talking with her. She has touched so many lives and probably some she doesn't even know about. She really made a difference in my life. I will miss you Joyce but I know we will see each other again. Love you and tell my Mom when you see her that I love and Miss her. 'Till we meet again.......
Grandmama lived around me my whole life and let me tell you she was stubborn. She taught me so many important things like how to stand up for myself and what a real man looks like (granddaddy). We shared so many funny memories like me chasing her in her wheelchair down the hill because I didn't know wheel chairs had brakes, her spanking me ONE TIME and me always jokingly holding the grudge. I'll always miss my Grandmama but I'm so glad she got to meet my first born daughter and I'll always hear her voice saying "I love you little girl".
When I was about 12 years old, I stayed with her in a cabin just outside of Dahlonega, GA. I gained about 10 lbs that summer...and besides constantly cooking delicious food, she took me to fish for trout almost every day in the rhododendron covered streams that surrounded Lumpkin county.
Over time, the two of us learned the stocking truck schedule, met a few friendly folks down at the bait shop, and always left the water with a stringer full of good size rainbows and brookies that we could fool with nothing more than a small can of del monte whole kernel and a pair of Zebco 33's.
She showed me how to clean them, and we did together in the creek behind the cabin. Then we would usually fry a few up for dinner, and follow that with strawberry shortcake.
Im so sad that she left this earth, and Im really going to miss her, but I know she will always be with me, and I'll never forget all that I learned from her.
RIP Grandmother 😢 I love you. 💕
I can remember all the great time's my family went with Aunt Joyce and Uncle George and our cousins to Florida. Daddy couldn't afford to take us all on a vacation to Fla for a week very often, but because of my Aunt and Uncle getting a place right near the beach every year we all were able to go. We all always had a wonderful time all the men and boy's would go out on the boat at night and all is ladies and girl's would go to the beach and go gigging. I can remember so many fun things we got to do when we went to Aunt Joyce and Uncle George house in Ben Hill, cooking out, swimming, playing games while the Adult's played cards. Uncle Jeffrey was there a lot with us too. It's precious memories I'll always treasure. I stayed a lot at my Aunt Bonnie's and Aunt Carolyn's too with my Cousins Cathy and Lori, Travis and Derick too. I'll treasure those memories too.
we were 18 years apart and growing up I remember good times with my nephews then we grew apart as will happen she was busy with her boys and I was trying to learn to be an adult as the years passed and I became a grandmother we became closer as we finally had more incommon.2 sisters a generation apart grew to love each other.God is with you and your family. I remember as a young boy visiting my cousin Joyce with my mother Bonnie. Worked for George for a summer in Atlanta as painters apprentice. Fond memories of both. My thoughts and prayers to the family.
