Barbara B. Price's Obituary
Barbara B. (Cross) Price, age 90, of Bradenton, FL entered into rest on Friday, June 15, 2018. Barbara was born in Niles, MI on July 26, 1927, daughter of the late Theresa C. and Carroll A. Cross and attended Niles High School, Niles, MI, class of 1945. She married the late Command Sergeant Major (ret.) Fred J. Price (also of Niles) on April 27, 1946. During her husband’s 30-year Army career, she accompanied him and was a part of the NCO Wives Club. While stationed in Germany; she volunteered as a Gray Lady with the American Red Cross. She also accompanied him in Thailand. During the early retirement years, she and Fred lived in Athens, Greece for a short time and traveled through Europe. Barbara also loved traveling the United States with the exception of Alaska. She visited every state, touring the 48 contiguous states on a Gold Wing Aspencade motorcycle. She toured the 48 states with Marvin, her companion in their motor home. During more recent years she enjoyed Red Hat activities, cruising, and scrap booking. She was a member of the John Wayne/Bob Salzman Memorial Chapter XXI Special Forces Association of Florida, Gold Wing Road Riders of America, Gold Wing Touring Association, American Legion Auxiliary Richland County Unit #6 of Columbia, SC and the Red Hat Group of Bradenton, FL. Barbara is proceeded in death by her spouse of 44 years, Fred of Fruitland Park, FL; her companion, Marvin J. Farnam of 6 years of Fruitland Park, FL; her parents and sister, Marjorie L. Warner of Niles, MI. Barbara is survived by her children, Judith A. Friend (Richard - deceased) of Niles, MI, Michael P. Price (Janet) of Fernandina Beach, FL, Patricia C. Jarvis (Jim) of Columbia, SC, Tina M. Loux of Bradenton, FL, and Fred J. Price, II of Dalton, GA; grandchildren, Tracey L. Eldridge, Donald A. Friend, Nichole M. Marin, Rena A. Jarvis, Wm. Justin Loux and Shawna M. Clark; 10 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Thomas J. Johnson (Ruth) of Niles, MI, Robert H. Johnson (Cora) of Schaumburg, IL; sister-in-law, Judie Schwarz (Edward) of Fruitland Park, FL; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 20, 201 from 10:00AM until 12:00PM at Steverson Hamlin & Hilbish Funeral Home, Tavares. A Funeral Service will follow in the funeral home chapel at 12:00PM. Graveside Service will be at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at 2:00PM. Contributions in memory of Barbara may be made to the WREATHS ACROSS AMERICA.
