Agnes Dolly Parsons' Obituary
Agnes D. Parsons of Altoona, Florida passed away on Thursday, November 14, 2013 at the age of 90 years. She was born in Vanceburg, Kentucky to Peter and Elsie Durst. She married Reverend Randall Parsons on August 31, 1940. They lived in Lake County off and on since 1967 and moved to Lakeview Terrace in Altoona in 2005. Although primarily a homemaker, Agnes also worked at a number of outside jobs over the years including: retail clerk/buyer, secretary at Tavares High School, and youth director at First United Methodist Church of Tavares. As a preacher's wife, she was also very active in church activities, singing in the choir, teaching Sunday School, and taking an active role in women's groups. She also served as a tour director on several US and International tours for Educational Opportunities. Agnes was a terrific cook. She loved gardening and animals, especially dogs. She is remembered and will be dearly missed by her husband of 73 years, Reverend Randall Parsons; son, Darrell Parsons and his wife, Julie of University Park, Maryland; daughters, Patty Tewson and her husband, Bill of Sun Valley, Idaho, Eloise Gerecitano and her husband, Paul of Roswell, GA, and Carolyn Cutler and her husband, Ken of Orlando, Florida; 8 grandchildren, Cody Parsons of Sun Valley, Idaho, Maria Tagliarino of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, BethAnne Welischar of Roswell, Georgia, Keith Gerecitano of Atlanta, Georgia, Talia Gerecitano of Los Angeles, California, Nicholas Gerecitano of Las Vegas, Nevada, Katharine Parsons of Easton, Maryland and Jon Randall Parsons of Los Angeles, California and 2 great grandchildren, Ethan Gerecitano of Roswell, Georgia and Isidor Parsons of Los Angeles, California. Agnes was preceded in death by her daughter, Joan Ruth Parsons in 1942 and her brother, Chester Durst. Family and friends are invited to gather for viewing on Saturday, November 16, 2013 from 10:00 – 11:00 am at the First United Methodist Church of Tavares. A memorial ceremony will follow the viewing at 11:00 am in the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 600 W. Ianthe Street, Tavares, FL 32778 or Cornerstone Hospice Life Enrichment Program, 2445 Lane Park Road, Tavares, FL 32778. Condolences, memories, photos and videos may be shared on the tribute wall.
