Mom, When you left this earth, you took a piece of my heart with you, but the other pieces remaining hold on to your love and memories forever. Your life was well lived and you touched so many lives with your kindness and giving. You treated everyone with respect. You found great joy in giving, whether it was giving to charity or giving gifts. You just enjoyed life. The simple things in life made you happy. You enjoyed traditions and all the family gatherings that came with the holidays.

Holidays were a joy. Your Christmas cookies candy houses were a special holiday treat. They were made with love and everyone looked forward to them. When we were kids you told us, "Don't touch until I say so".

The things I miss the most is the sharing and fun times we had. Your outlook on life was inspiring. I will always remember your love and, I am so grateful to have had you in my life for so long. Rest in peace, Mom.

The note you wrote me was so sweet and I just loved getting mail. I think about you all the time and miss you.

Dear Neet,

You were an amazing person, and oh, how you will be missed! Your thoughtful and caring ways touched so many people during your lifetime.

My earliest memory of you goes back ages when I was just a kid… I see you and Mom emptying a cooler packed with lunches onto a picnic table at a swimming hole underneath very tall pines… I think it was called “Hermans” and I think it was in River Vale.

It took awhile before I realized that you were responsible for the Christmas cookies every year, something that my entire family looked forward to with anticipation. (Mom would have to hide the tin from us)

I remember one time, my Mom and I were talking about you and Mom said "who could not like Neet!". That is so true. You were always thinking of others.

My sincere condolences to the Herpst family. Find peace in knowing that she was loved by so many.

I have a memory of us that I have to share.

We were up in what I think was your mom's sewing room. The both of us were on the floor with the job of staining lamps she had. Of course the lamps didn't look that great with the job we were doing but we were doing the best we could and quite busy at it. She came over and wiped some of the stain off the lamp and made the lamps look beautiful with her skillful touch. I was amazed at the finished outcome but then all of the sudden when I began to get up I realized my boot buckle got stuck onto the rug and made a disastrous pull ruining the rug. I was horrified at what had happened (and even more so of what your mom would say.) Well she said nothing but took one of her crafting tools and pulled that piece of rug right back into place! I was more amazed about the outcome of the rug than the lamps! lol It was then that I knew how lucky you were to have her as your mother.

Still to this day I get sentimental when I think of what an angel she was.
