Opal Jean Bailey

After a long battle with dementia and Parkinson’s, Opal Jean Bailey went to be with Jesus on Saturday, June 26, 2021. She is survived by her daughter, Billie Jean “BJ” McChesney (John) her granddaughter Sarah Graves (Kris), grandson David Hamar (Heather), granddaughter Erica McChesney, grandson Sean McChesney (Blair), her siblings Henry Barnard, Rosie Peavy, Shirley Gasperson, Catherine Burrell, Jerry Barnard, Donnie Barnard and her ten great-grandchildren: Reagan, Tristan, Camden, Adelyn, Vince, Evan, Kelsie, Adair, Teagan, and Colm, as well as many nieces and nephews. Opal was born in Eustis, Florida on November 8, 1927. She was a hard worker, retiring from the telephone company after 38 years, and then retiring again after 20 years with the Marion County Clerk of Court. She served many years at First Presbyterian Church in Ocala. She will be remembered for her laughter, corny sayings, groovy dance moves, selfless generosity, and loving others, especially her family, so well.
