I'm so grateful for the years I knew Effie. We were able to share many hugs and stories. One of the ways she showed she cared was by being a prayer partner with our daughter during her high school years. Her love for Jesus was sure. Effie was a warrior with a heart of gold. Sadly, that heart was broken when she had to say goodbye to her Harry - until now!!
We will miss her but celebrate their reunion. Glad it's only a temporary goodbye.

We remember Effie (and Harry) for their love for Christ and His work around the world. They both loved the old hymns of the church and Effie loved to play them. Until they were too old to do so they enjoyed having people in their home for meals. We so enjoyed hearing their stories - vividly told with much color and expression. Pearl and I met Effie on a several occasions at both Ruth's house and later, upon the passing of Harry a couple years back. We remember her as a lovely and gracious individual. We know how close she and Ruthie had been over the later years. Her passing after a long productive life will leave a hole filled with kind memories. Pearl joins me in sending our heartfelt condolences to Ruthie and the whole family.

It would have been impossible to have had a better Mother-in-Law than my "Mama Bear", yes that's how I addressed her. Mind you, I didn't make up the name, she did! We were once discussing how she always kept in touch with her Children, Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren. She jokingly commented, "I'm a Mama Bear, my cubs mean the world to me". There you have it, that's who she was, total dedication to those she loved. She will be missed by all of us who admired her, loved her; yes, I am proud to say I loved my "Mama Bear". Guess what? She made everyone aware that she loved us as well.....

Skipper, Mary Lou, Ruth, I am so deeply sorry for the loss of your mother. What an amazing woman with so much perseverance and determination. I'm so glad we had some days together this past year before her passing. My deepest condolences. She will be missed.

Effie and I were neighbors in LOW for 13 years and spent a lot of time visiting with each other and chatting about everything. I learned all about her life from a teenager to senior citizen, and she and Harry had done a lot! Effie and I loved each other and enjoyed each other's company. I will always remember her, and she will have a special place in my heart the rest of my life. I know we will meet again, and I am looking forward to hearing about her experiences in Heaven!

Dear Skipper,
Thank you for letting us know that your mom has gone to heaven. How good that you were able to visit her in her last days; I'm sure that was what she valued most.
I'm so thankful for the times I got to visit Aunt Effie. I remember especially in the years after Mom died how precious it was to hear her voice and expressions that sounded so much like our mother...even after so many years living in opposite corners of the USA.
I really appreciated her hospitality---and also your generous tickets into Disney World! I learned more about our family history and my mother's early years from her; I guess I was too young to think to ask my mom about it years ago. I'm thankful for what I learned from your mom.
May the Lord comfort you and your sisters in this time.

We didn't grow up close to relatives, but Aunt Effie was the definition and personification of "aunt" for me. I liked to hear her talk; it reminded me of Mom. And she liked to talk. A great conversationalist! Brought up subjects she knew I would be interested in: family news, family history, missions, current events... Although we didn't send her our monthly letters, obviously she was informed and asked questions that showed she had a good idea of what we were doing. I know she prayed for us and some day we'll realize how valuable that spiritual support was.
My sympathies with you, Skipper, and with your whole family!
