Gretel Theuner
For 50 years I had known Günther Gonder, who in his younger years worked in the same company as I did, but never at the same time.
But even many years after his emigration as a young person to the USA, where he became both professionally successful and privately happy, he never forgot his roots in the Rhineland and kept close contact with all his friends, his former employer and, of course, his family in Bingen during his almost annual visits to Germany.
During these years I was able to get to know and appreciate both him and his wife Livia. When he was in Germany, he immersed himself just as much in the culture of his old homeland as he did before and afterwards in the culture of his new adopted country, the USA. - A wanderer and bridge builder between two continents and their people.
Especially in the last few years, I was able to get to know Günther Gonder a little better during his visits. For me, his qualities:
Modesty, Cordiality, Tolerance and the ability to rest deeply within himself remain unforgotten.
