When I think of Elaine I remember her softness, and her tender spirit towards others. She was always a lovely presence in the room, the one smiling warmly, inquiring after others and delighting in everyone’s company. What a beautiful woman she was both inside and out. As a child I personally aspired to be like her. I must say I still feel I can learn from her example on how to live a good, full life.
Elaine was one of the rocks of support in the Pashkewich family. Present at family gatherings until moving to Florida, she participated in most of the traditions of the family including Christmas with Santa, Easter, summer backyard get-togethers, weddings and funerals. She was part of the glue that held the family together. This glue seemed to be made of love and kindness. Even in recent years when it was a struggle to correspond, I would still receive a card from her and know that she was sending her love. I am so grateful for her presence in my life and will keep her in my memory and heart forever. Her presence on this earth was a true gift to all of us.

A natural beauty inside and out, my mother has been so influential in my life. She taught patience, tolerance, love of nature, the comfort of a hug, and the importance of a good night’s rest. She never wanted us to take anything or anyone for granted. She was always looking for ways to learn and improve. Her love for my father only grew during their 66 years of marriage and together they made a wonderful team who mutually supported, challenged and encouraged each other (and their children).
There are numerous herbs and flowers that she loved to grow: gardenia, magnolia, peony, lilac, lilies, petunias, impatiens. azalea, rosemary, basil, iris and lavender. Whenever I smell and see these flowers I will remember her heart. I appreciate everyone who has reached out with words of comfort. Instead of sending flowers that will wither in time, maybe just plant some in a place that nobody would expect. Cultivate a surprising spot of color and beauty to brighten someone’s day. I think she’d appreciate that.
